My corsa now sounds like a dirty diesel while its ticking over and its well annoying! i think its the timing chain so i need to get that fixed but is that the main problem? Also cv joint is majorly loose so i need to get that done asap. or does it? o and another thing the handling is way off! got 4 brand new gt tyres on it and the back end just swings round! its getting a bit of under-steer as well and it only does this at high speeds and when that back end flys round it aint a comfortable thing! PLEASE HELP!

Aounds like your timing chain yes. But it should be ok to drive, just take it easy. Basically, what happens, is the tensioner can't tension the chain any more, thus rattling.

You have a couple of options, depending on budget. One is for new tensioners, which are a bit pointless. You're better off with a new chain. As you're in Cheshire, I won't suggest going where I went.

Warren was the person that did mine much much cheaper than Vauxhall, but you're quite a drive from him. I thought 2 hours was enough.
