I've always wondered what it is?
A really tall tower which can be seen for miles and miles, on top of a hill.
Always see it when i'm on the M61 (apparently ).
What is it?
(we're not talking about blackpool tower btw)

Its an NTL transmitter.
The base doesn't look very sturdy for its height

The tower with the red lights on it????
There are a few scattered around, you see some from the M55, there's one Burnley direction, the one on Winter Hill and there are three within 100ft of each other at a place called Inskip near Garstang. The ones at Inskip are to do with MOD and have warning signs etc etc.... got pics of when we went, they've got loads of security on it aswell!! Never been able to find anything out about what there for though.....
UFO's maybe? Clearly some kind of transmitters and for communication purposes but you never see any anywhere else in the country do you?!?!?!
