Im buying a sport with a x16xe engine in the next couple of weeks off a friend, the only problem is the engine managment light is on and its useing alot of fuel.

Any idea what the problem could be?

Using a lot of fuel would point to the CTS (coolant temperature sensor), but the EML doesn't add up, as I know many users such as myself had a CTS fault, but no light at all

I can't remember if a paperclip test can be done on these engines or not, haven't had to try on mine.
