As some of you will recall (I put a thread up the other day) Saxo Sports Club were having a track day on 4th of April at Llandow.
Headed down there not knowing any of them in person and had a good day. Was foggy / drizzling most of the day, but still had a good laugh.
Whole range of specs there, a lot of the guys with quaife LSD's, semi slicks, throttle bodies, cams etc. I feel my car on it's standard tyres held its own, against many more sorted cars
Few pics from the day (not taken by me).
And my video (youtube killed the quality)
Sadly I only recorded a couple of sessions and even them were corrupted files, so I've compiled a mix of bits of vids video.
The annoying sound is my bag with the mic sliding around in the back of the car. These were early videos before the track dried out later on and I went 'maximum attack mode' either way, still a good laugh.

It's quite a small track (see my vid for the size / layout) ...
but basically, beginning starts in sessions and then after a couple it goes open pit - which literally meant you could just wait till the car you wanted to race went to go out and you'd follow it out on track race it, and then come back into the pits
Far more safer than trying to prove points on roads
It cost £1950 inc VAT for the whole day's hire.
Premium members paid £67 each, non members paid £79.
For a whole day, that's cheap!

yeahhhhhh, the price i got came out to about £85 a head for a saturday for 30 people, but with me buying a flat at the minute I'm not really in the position to risk money on the deposit

yeh this was cheaper because it was a Friday.
I drove 500 miles yesterday and burnt a total of £100 of fuel
160 ish miles there, 160 miles back and the rest going round and round in circles
My left front tyre also is now unbranded as it just wore away the side walls
I think i need a lower front strut brace to try to stop the struts flexing under heavy load.

I was looking at doing a friday, but bumping the price a little and throwing in a bbq & tea/coffee, make a proper day of it as I don't know what facilities there actually are there

They have a restaurant / cafe there - it's where a go kart track is too (which had midi moto's racing around).
I had a burger + chips for lunch. Yum.

My mate and his dad jointly own the Llandow Kart circuit, not sure about the one you were on though Paul?
I'm heading down there next Sunday (13th) for the last round of the BUKC (British University's Karting Championship) - should be great if it stays dry!

Great pics Paul, looks like a good day. I'm sure we can sort out getting something underway there particularly if it's cheaper for a group booking and we can have it all day.

Loved the video Paul.
I hope somebody takes a decent camera for the CS day.

I hope somebody takes a decent camera for the CS day.
Usually some people (like rich treen) with cameras plus people who sell their track pics at the track.
I'm hoping to have my camera gear set up for the 12:30 track session, but I need to find somewhere new to mount it if I take passengers as currently it goes where their head is.
The annoying thing is, the camera actually records quite good video 640x480 and decent enough quality, this can easily be watched full screen on my pc.
But to make it small enough size to upload it needs to be compressed quite a lot, as the raw file is like 500-1000mb... so gets compressed down to say 65 mb ... then youtube once uploaded re compress the file again so it streams on their thing (probably down to like 12 mb or something) - so once it ends up on youtube it's shit quality
I'm just annoyed i didn't record the later sessions of the day when it was dry as we were all really pushing and their were some great battles going on. Some of those SSC boys are equally mental haha, i.e. they don't want to give up and me neither

oh yeh and I'm gonna be buying a lower strut brace for combe
though I doubt i'll have my 5th gear working correctly, so expect to hear a 106 gti going down the main straight at 7800 rpm on the limiter in 4th doign about 110-115 mph maxed out

What's up with 5th?
YouTube sucks for compressing files.

something to do with the linkage...
At speeds over 70 I can't downshift from 5th to 4th, at any other speed under 70 5th works fine.
all other gears work fine.
Problem is, on track I want to be doing like 110 + in 5th, then downshift to 4th on approach to a bend, then downshift to 3rd.
Currently the stick at those high speeds won't move across the gear gate to the left to get into 4th. Just stays on the right for either 5th (up) or reverse (down) ... once slowed down it pops across to the left (neutral) and I can move it up (3rd) or down (4th)
... annoying.

yeh i usually actually take the straight on combes in 4th, BUT previously I had a gti / vts box... which will top at least 120 mph in 4th.
now with the xsi final drive it's revving high at 110 mph and won't pull higher than 115 i think at the limiter.
