Chris, I think you'll find that Nuerburgring is acceptable.

Fair enough with all the people that don't have a clue and say nuremberg but your not pulling people up for not going to find out what the key combination for a u with accents is are you.

are you saying is it possible?
hmm... well, the site needs the page to be refresh if I remember correctly.
So I guess you'd need to make a page, which points to the webcam url and refreshes often.
Then set it as desktop as a active desktop page (if that's possible).
That may work? would be quite cool actually I may look into doing it.

oh right just read that thread...
yes basically thats it... ok so what you do is
open up notepad (Start -> programs -> Accessories)
paste the following in
quote: <html>
<head>
<META HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT="60">
</head>
<body>
<img src="http://www.nuerburgring.de/fileadmin/webcam/webcam.jpg" width="640" height="480">
</body>
</html>
Click file - Save As
and save it as NurburgDesktop.html now make sure you also change file type to any file rather than text file. It won't work if it's saved as .txt so it's important in the file name it's saved as .html
and in the file type it's as any (otherwise it'll add .txt to end of your file name).
Save it somewhere.
Right click your desktop and go properties (to change background)...
select desktop properties do browse and open the html file you saved from note pad.
select it and press apply! it's now your background.

how cool is this
my background was already a picture of the nurburgring track, just edited it so the page had the background image and the web cam was centered.
So even if the webcam doesn't load (i.e. I'm not connected to the internet) I have my standard background and if i do have a internet connection I have the background with a cool snap shot of the real nurburgring
Shame it's currently dark there.

<center>
<img src="http://www.nuerburgring.de/fileadmin/webcam/webcam.jpg" width="640" height="480">
</body>
</center>
</html>
this is my final html file, just download what you want as your normal desktop (around cam / when cam can't be displayed) and save it in the same directory as the html file and put that file name in where I call 'nurburgbg.jpg'.

tom_simes scroll up I just explained how i did it initially, with picture showing note pad and what to do.
now just change the code in the .html file to the above!
however, note before you will notice any changes, you need to change your background back to something else, and then re select the web page one again! (so in desktop properties, select just window xp background, press apply... then select your html file again and apply).

see if it allows you to select other file types to show as background?
it may be a security feature to be honest, as it's allowing your page to execute web page code all the time - which is not the safest thing depending on the site.
I already notice how much slower my pc is going
