Ok one of the lads from RSOC is adamant his friend had a 1.8 8v engine in a corsa that was bored out to a 2.0 AND LATER to a 2.1. Can someone explain if this is true and how at all possible? IIRC the 1.8 8v engine was a C18SEL which is 105bhp isn't it? And he says she was running 163bhp with this 1.8 8v engine bored to a 2.1, decat, pipercross viper and custom remap. Just seems a bit weird and apologies in advance if it is true. Just wondered if someone can explain about the boring out of an engine?

I would very much doubt you could bore the 1.8 engine to a 2.1 but I dont wonna do all the maths of it.
are you asking what boring an engine out means/does?

Displacement = ((Pi x Bore^2) / 4) * Stroke
Increasing bore and stroke will increase overall displacement.
It is possible, but it depends if the cylinder walls will accept being bored out the required size.

i know a C20XE can be bored to 2.2 but i highly dought a 1.8 could be bored out that far.. might be wrong tho, does all depend on liner thickness, like RCS said
