. . .what is the difference between the engines? Which would therefore indicate why the 1.7 in the Corsa C is so hard to re-map?
Are these completely different engines? Like one by Isuzu?!

GSi_16v said they were 100ps/bhp, even though there is a difference.
Basically this has stemmed from the Combo thread.

http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/specs/Detail.aspx?deriv=26107 - Corsa C
Nope, 98bhp with 177lb/ft torque.
http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/specs/Detail.aspx?deriv=38145 - Corsa D
123bhp with 206lb/ft torque and 6 speed.
Z17DTR is the engine code for the Corsa D apparently.

there the same engine i think
the corsa c is 100% the z17dth
and they havent brought out a new 1.7, so it must be a different map/ecu

If they are the same engine (baring in mind I have a distinct lack of knowledge when it comes to this sort of thing) and they are simply mapped differently, surely you could just completely change the map from one to the other?!

they injectors, turbo, comp ratio can all be diffrent deano, as well as loads of things
its fine saying you can just get the map, but how do you plan on transfering it

They are so hard to map deano becasue they use a shite denso ecu which is very hard to to rewrite.

This is the point I'm trying to make, and jr kind of asked it.
I'm sure I'm not the first to think of it, which would mean the 1.7 in the C uses a different ECU to the D.

You could fit any engine into any car pretty much, just how much work it requires.
