Work might have a new proxy server.

On a work machine (one that connects to the internet), Open up IE and go to Tools, Options. Then go to the Connections Tab and click on the Lan Settings button at the bottom. Look if there is any proxy server information in the bottom of the new box. If so, copy this info to your laptop

If not, your IT manager might have blocked access yo you

Errrm, try getting another IP address?

On the laptop, Start, Run, "cmd", Enter

Then in the new black box type in "ipconfig /renew"

Failing that, go and see the guy.

if its got a ! then it means its not getting an IP address, go to control panel and network and sharing centre, then on the left click manage network connections. in the screen that comes up, right click your LAN and go to properties. highlight TCP/IPv4 and click properties again on the lower right hand side. you'll get another screen come up. are the boxes greyed out or are there numbers in them?
