look up cutting diets and weight/exercise regimes on places like muscle talk.

Most of them will allow you to drop the weight but maintain size. Its not easy though and 3st is a hell of a lot.

Healthy amount to lose without losing muscle and mass is 2lb a week. 3months = 12 weeks which = 24lbs which isn't even 2 stone. You could make 2 stone but in all honesty i dont think its possible to lose 3 stone of fat in that time!

At that size though it should be easier to lose more than 2lb a week in a healthy way, although obviously would slow down as you lost it over the weeks.

2st should be possible, 3 would certainly be pushing it.

Dan you say "without loosing size" now i dont mean to sound cheeky here but....

Do you weight train and are carrying a fair bit of mucle mass but you'd like to loose 3st of fat or realistically are you just a fat kid with broad shoulders? I know a lad like this myself, if he lost the weight he'd definately loose size asin fat but he's always gna be broad shouldered.

Im only asking as ive been at the gym for a few yrs and i stand at 5ft 10" and yesterday i weighed in at 14st 10lbs.

I've lost 16lbs in 3 weeks I know its not a healthy way to lose and maintain weight but basically my incredibly healthy lifestyle stopped when i moved back from spain, i spent the entire summer partying and put on just over 2 stone since I got back. I dont even want to go swimming at the moment till ive lost some of the weight first, so the crash diet is just to get me back into my healthy eating and exercise plan, before anyone starts going on about how I will put it all back on plus more etc etc
Basically, ive been on a zero carb diet, only drinking water, taking quite a bit of ephedrine and caffeine and going out cycling a bit too, and ive managed to lose 16lbs in 21days going from 12st 10 to 11st 8.

The ephedrine helps to suppress the appetite, but will power is needed as well. Ive basically been living off fish and eggs as my staple diet, along with prawns, chicken, leafy green salads with no dressings, tinned tuna and a bit of mayo as a snack, as well as venison sausages now and again as they are extremely low in carbs too (ive found that individual brands of sausages vary loads in carb content so check the packets!) A typical day would be scrambled eggs for breakfast, a piece of salmon for lunch and maybe another one for tea and thats about it Still, even though its a boring diet and needs quite a lot of willpower, the results so far seem to be making it worth my while and hopefully i will have lost enough weight again to get back into my swimmimng again before the summer

cut out carbs completely. then straight after you train aim to ingest 75-100g of carbs.

you should drop into a steady state of ketosis and this will burn fat rapidly.

6 meals a day comprimising of lean protein, green veg and dietary fats at every meal.

you really sound like you know what your talking about, you must train lots and be quite big to know all this?

reading about ketosis, seems a bad thing to do it for quite a while? not all carbs are bad, the body must need some!

I train 4 days a week, im not massive but im in better shape than most.

Steady state ketosis isnt really ketosis, as your eating plenty of dietary fats to compensate for the loss of carbs in your diet, and your eating some carbs but just not overloading on them at every meal instead your eating fats for your energy. If you can picture, protein as the building blocks of body tissue, carbs and fats are the workers who put it all together. Actual ketosis is dangerous if you dont know what your doing.

You dont need carbs as a main staple of your diet like most people insist upon. The only time your body will put carbs to good use is upto 2 hours after you train, this is due to low glycogen levels in your liver and your body is super sensetive to insulin. In dumb speak your body can use the extra carbs to fuel accelerated fat burning and shuttle protein and amino acids into broken muscle fibres to aid repair. Any other time and they will be stored as fat, theres no need for them. A Friend of mine won NABBA mr universe without eating carbs, so it works.

Carbs are useful in a diet, but they have a time and a place. At any other point in the day they will just be converted to sugar and stored as fat. Contrary to what lame diet 'experts' lead you to belive, you need to eat fat to loose weight, not carbs. IE a tuna salad and half a cup of almonds will be a perfect meal. tuna on a baked potato with cheese is a bad meal.

Also eatin fats and carbs together (chips and cheese as an example) causes an insulin spike, and both the fat and the carbs will be stored as bodyfat and very little will be put to good use.
