here is what he has posted happened.................

The cause of the crash was total brake failure on the approach to Tower, I applied the brakes three times but all that happened was the rears locked and unlocked scrubbing no speed. Becuase of this I turned the car in very very early (before the corner) to try and get the car sideways so I could scrub off some speed. It stopped an even more serious possible outcome......ie death for me!

Sadly this meant HEAVY contact with Gary (Orange car) and then the tyre wall. There was a full investigation today (after the event) and I have been praised by the clerk of the course for the way I dealt with a very nasty situation. The official cause was "mechanical failure".

Sadly this 800mile old Evo 9 RS is a total loss, needs a reshell in the minimum. I may just break the car and take some time out until the green car is fixed though. Kind of makes you realise how dangerous motorsport can be.

Cheers all

Si

p.s. The brakes had boiled fluid which had no previous signs until I applied them on the approach to this corner.

So, he had boiled the fluid and had no brakes, but it all felt normal on the previous corner?

I fail to see how that could be true really, you would always feel the difference, or feel the brakes slowly fading, not just working one corner, none at all the next.

Unless the brake pipes got damged etc, fair enough, but boiling? I don't believe that.

some of the comments here are funny. Cant drive etc..... He may not be the best, but at least he is out there giving it a damn good go. Accidents happen, and while both parties wont be happy, they have to expect the unexpected.

Brakes fail.

Adam, I completely understand that brakes can fail unexpectedly, but usually from a line failure, damaged master cylinder etc.

I have never heard of brakes feeling normal and fine on one corner, and there being nothing there at all at the next, thats my point.

yes, i can see your point.... but my point is its all too easy to say that from here.

Do you think he wanted it to happen? It was an accident.

P.s. I have no problem with him smashing up cars in some high cost professional series like time attack professional class or anything...

My gripe is that the castle combe series is mainly full of 'amateurs gone racing' - people with 'hobby budgets' populating the classes like E,D,C,B ... then there's like a handful of about 4 class A evo's and stuff.

Personally i don't think they should be in the same race together... but not enough class A's to have their own league on it...

But no one else in the series is writing cars off, ok the orange one may have some money to rebuild, but the class C car he wrote off before was just on a hobby 'i want to go racing budget'.

yes, but if you enter a competative series you must know what you are in for Its door to door racing, not sprinting
