looking to start taking some half decent photos, not go a huge budget can anyone point me in the right direction as i know fuck all about camera's

Fuji S6500 I have, paid £150 for it at the begining of the year, should be cheaper now

Depends what you want it for. Pentax S10 is pretty decent, only £120, 10 megapixel, 3x optical zoom. Pretty straight forward. Decent enough for a compact as its really small, the money adds up when you add extras. S6500 is good if youre going to start playing with aperture, iso settings etc but a bit bulkier. Not so convinient on a night out!
