I posted a similar thread about this a couple of months back...
Basically my mate is looking for a new car (not as in brand new) and he has about £10k to spend
He has narrowed his choices down to:
Honda Civic Type R (not the new one) we saw one today at £8999, silver, 55k on the clock
Seat Leon Cupra R (again not the new one) not sure on price, but is probably his fave choice
VW Golf GTI MK4 (1.8T) we saw one today at £5k, Black with cream leather , 80k on the clock
^^ he says that he can get the Golf tuned to stage 1 for about £1k ish (which app makes it 250 bhp??? )
What would you choose and why?

LCR because the Golf looks too plain and the CTR has a bad image.
Although CTRs are growing on me.

Yea the CTR is nice, I think it's the more expensive option all round (insurance, petrol, tax etc)

CTR. They look good, handle well, and have decent power figures from a NA 2.0

And IMO (I must be getting old), I weouldn't buy a car thinking "I can spend X amount to get this amount of BHP", LCR could just be left alone

The old Civics are usually old man cars but the Type R's look sporty enough to be nice, plus I just like Civics haha. MK4 Golf is a bit boring imo, unless it's done up nicely. Don't really know much about Seat's but it'd basically be a Golf under the body panels

Leon LCR,

For me, LCR out of them. But you could get a tidy S3 for £10k aswell. Looks better than the LCR imo.
