Been running the car on used veggie oil mixed with diesel 50/50, the 70/30 and have gone to 100% veggie oil.

She now go over 2k revs and smokes like a badger if i rev it to the limit (now 2k)! Blue Smoke by the way!

Any advice? Car is 1996 1.9 tdi (ahu engine)

I reckon fuel filter is clogged

Cheers mate. Diesel here is £1.30 a litre, and Used veggie oil is costing me 0.59p a litre so the saving could be quite subsstantial if I can get the motot running right

i totally understand where your coming from but surely fucking the car up isnt worth running it on 100 veg oil, as stated maybe keep to 50/50 or 30/70

before putting the neat veg oil in the tank run it through a large diesel filter first, stops you having to change the filter on the car so often

Its just running lean because the filter is blocked. Thats also why it won't rev any higher

My car only cost me £300 so not worried about fcuking it up! Excuse to buy a 182 if it does!

I buy it from some guy on ebay and its used veggie oil from various catering places.

Does it not get going if you give it a rev and get the engine nice and hot? Mine was smokey and shitty for a bit at idle with 100%, but once I got goin it was ok.

Detonation point of veg oil is higher than diesel, so as Ed said it works better when its hot.

Some Pug fuel pumps have a pre-heater that works rather well
