I am looking at jobs that are based down in London atm.
If the salary is 21-23k initially then is that enough to live on? It would need to include flat rental and all bills etc. I think I would sell the car if I was living close to amenities such as supermarket etc.
Take the Capham common area (Or other areas that are easily commutable) for example. What are rental prices like for 1/2 bedroom flats?

Clapham Common you're looking around £400 a week for a 2 bed -- it's one of those trendy areas that isn't actually particularly near anything.
Where would you be commuting to? I'm not a big fan of south of the river...
Check out www.foxtons.co.uk for prices. Don't rent through them as you can probably find a better deal, but it'll give you a good idea of what to expect.

Clapham Common is where the office is based. So it would be commuting into CC. I'm not too hot on the various suburbs of London so cant say where it is I would be looking for!

At that salary you could do it at a push...but I would suggest moving somewhere other than CC as its very expensive there when in actual fact its not actually all that. It is a good night out though around Clapham.
Have a look at the neighbouring areas for cheaper rental...I now live in South East London about 9-10 miles from the centre. It takes me 25 mins on a fast train (stops at my stop then straight into central london not stopping anywhere else) into central london where as my old flat was 4 miles from the centre and due to no Tube being close by etc it used to take me an hour to get to work. I now get an overground South Eastern train too so its nice trains and means no tube commute which is an absolute nightmare. The monthly train pass it cheaper where I am now, even though I am further out due to not having to buy a travelcard for bus and tubes etc.
By me you can get a 1 bedroom flat for around £700 a month. I would suggest moving somewhere cheaper to keep your car or buy a cheap run around. Yes you wont use it Monday to Friday but its a pain in the arse carrying bags from the supermarket home and you can use it to travel home in.
Driving by me is fine outside of rush hour as its far enough out from the centre of London to be not as busy.

It all depends on the Job Mr. Loaf. Im hoping for a Manchester based job TBH, dont really fancy leaving the northwest.

I moved from the North West too...its a big move but if it will further your career you can always move back home after a few years...
I live in Hither Green...its nice and residential...Blackheath is close too which has a really nice common and lots of nice bars!
As for commuting...look for places near any southern train line....
Check out www.southerntrains.co.uk I think it is for stations to live near...I would say Sidcup itself is probably the furthest I would live outside of London as its 50 mins from door to door....but thats not on the line that goes to CC...
Maybe look around Beckenham etc...or any line that goes through Clapham Junction.

Doug, I suggest living outside of London and near a train station, and travelling in.
I do it, granted at night so I have to drive, but if I was on days I'd get the train in and even after travel figures I'm still getting paid alot more than my mates.

Yep...it costs me £68 a month for my train pass...you would save that in Petrol per month easy as you wont use your car Monday to Friday...

I'd recommend living further out and commuting in. Where I live which is on a main line into London Kings Cross, you can rent a whole house for £700/month. My sister does the commute from here and her train travel is £400/month. Quite steep I guess.

£400 p/m is what my mates girlfriend pays too. Thats from CMK - Euston - Waterloo (I think). She works in St.Thomas Hosapital opposite Big Ben.

When I used to get the train from Flitwick to Bedford it cost £110 per month! 9mins each way 
Almost cheaper than that to drive
