It was definate a while back, but the final licence to begin building work was granted on 19th and work began officially yesterday - although the council have been working on the road network around there for a while now to prepare for the stadium work.

It certainly does
Up until last week certain members of the council were trying to get us to allow Everton to share this stadium - not a fucking chance.

Coolio. Not a fan of the design but at least it isn't a crappy bowl stadium.

The corners filled would make it a 'crappy bowl' stadium

1. The design of the stadium doesnt allow it in all corners.
2. Design spec was for 4 individual style stands much like stadiums of old.
3. Stand alone Kop was a must when fans were asked, hence why its a 18,500 seater stand
4. Some corners will be slightly more filled to reach the highest capacity.

Serious note. Stadium look spretty good.
Bit odd with only 2 corners filled in though.

The whole idea is to have a totally seperate 'Kop' rather than a whole bowl shape inside the stadium. It may mean missing out on 5,000+ more seats but it makes it original and keeps some of the history from the current Anfield.
