Iv got a 1997 Corsa 1.2 8v LS and im lookin toward maybe an engive converson sometime soon. Im wantin to know my options really as I know il have to change the mounts for a 16v engine.
I were thinkin somewhere along the lines of a 1.6 16v or even a 2 litre or something. Il be changing the gearbox aswell. Anyone let me know what options iv got to look for? I can pay up to around £2000
Cheers

How much work would have to go into fitting something a bit bigger than what is is already? Would the 1.8 be from a corsa or a nova?

You can transplant from many Vauxhall cars.
Main ones are Cav, Calibra, Astra. Just preference really.
I mean, do you want a crazy ass fast Turbo or just a nippy 1.6.....the choices are there.
Nearly the same work for each one, engine out, mounts, engine in, shafts, exhaust, wiring. Apart from the Turbo and V6...there a bit different to do.

Also take into consideration the extra cost in tax, fuel and insurance
The 1.6 can be a lot of fun when a few bits are changed.

get a 1.6 c16xe engine in there, put a light weight flywheel on it, set of mildish cam's, change the inlet, arp rod bolts, full exhaust and a re-map. You will have fun and cops don't get to funny if the engine looks standard to the car
If you went 2.0 then your looking at a fair increase in tax £99 for 6 months, the fuel it uses is well.... Extrordenary, and they are 20 year old engines so expect fixing costs

The tax is the same for the 1.6 and the 2.0.

Personally, I wouldn't go for a C16XE. Most have been thrashed and have high miles. I'd go for an X16XE. Theres only a few differences between them both. Only 3BHP difference aswell.
