I just got my laptop sent back from repair and not only did they replace my motherboard (which solved the issue) they also wiped my hard drive and re installed the 'standard' operating system - which is Vista

Personally I can't stand Vista, so previously removed it and installed XP instead.

Now this laptop has Vista again, but I'm wondering how many people these days actually use this operating system rather than XP?

Does it really slow your PC down, and how does it handle pirated software like Pirated Office, Pirated Photoshop etc - I've heard stories about it locking down the PC / software when it detects it's not legit.

I would like to know if Vista has been improved from when it was released. Ive always disliked the performance of Vista, and the amount of drivers which simply refuse to work on it, but have liked the aesthetic features. However I still love XP as its modern yet still works perfectly......

And im formatting my PC later so would like to know either way as I have XP Pro and Vista Ultimate to choose from

Anyone know how Vista handles pirated software? a goon at uni who did his placement at Microsoft kept telling me Vista detects illegal pirated software and shuts it down / locks the whole OS down.

I think at first Vista used to detect if Vista itself was a pirated copy, and if so lock it down, but it kept doing it to genuine copies so they removed it.

hate vista, my sister has it on her laptop and has just one account. yet whenever you do anything, for example setting it up on the network you get some gay little background window going on about admin stuff

i however have xp on mine and its fine

much prefered M.E on my old computer though, was just so simple!

I requested XP at work and have XP at home.

I find vista too annoying to use. Asks you 3 times if you want to do what you want to do. Plus I find it jerky and thinks too much.

I use it every day. Organisation has moved over to Vista Enterprise when SP1 came out and we've had no issues.

I use Ultimate on my boxes at home and would never go back to XP.

Machines in our company never have Vista if they have less than 2gb of RAM.

Vista + Office 2007 + 1Gb RAM = fucked

Love Vista.

Looks nicer and works just as well as XP even on my not too powerful laptop.

With uninstalled anti-virus it runs quicker than my XP desktop.
