Will there be one? I've just been reading up and currently there isn't a team but theres talk of forming one for the Olympics.
Good idea? Bad idea? Seems Great Britain havn't won since 1912!

Yeah, also read that there would be opposisiton to one being permanantly formed. An Olympic team would never end up taking over the home nations teams though imo.

They also have to be made up of players under 23yrs old with only 3 overage players allowed in the squad.

Shouldn't be too hard to put a squad together. Most would probably be English mind. Also which over 23's would you choose!

I don't think there will be as many English in a GB side as you all think because the young English players can't get in their club starting elevens.

By 23 the decent English lads are all in the first teams at the various clubs.

Thats true, but isn't that because of either established English players and/or young foreign talent that has being bought?

It would be good for GB players to prove themselves and maybe get noticed/considered for there clubs!

But if there was a GB team would they not then have to combine all the leagues?
Hence why there has only ever been Wales, England, Scotland, R.O.I & N.I?

No because the leagues are governed by individual FA's, the olympics will be a FIFA sanction, a similiar case will be applied for the next Copa America, by inviting Spain and Portugal to take part in a South American tournament.

They have permission to invite both nations because they want to make the tournament better and more exciting, plus they are the colonial countries....
Spain colonised Argentina,Peru,Bolivia,Uruguay,Paraguay,Colombia,Chile,Ecuador,Venezuela.
Portugal colonised Brazil and shared Paraguay and Venezuela with Spain.
This has been planned for some time but FIFA kept telling CONMEBOL to invite the likes of USA and Mexico, but they insulted the last tournament by taking 2nd/3rd string squads and got accused of making a joke of it(mostly aimed as USA). So this forced the idea from the planning stage to actually making it happen.

Who would want to support a GB football team? I certainly wouldn't. Plus whats the point in players risking injury in the Olympics when its hardly a big tournament ie Euro Championships or World Cup.
