As you may know I work in a college. We had a student teacher in there teaching a class of my students. Fresh out of college himself he was keen and anxious to come across competent and knowledgeable, particularly in front of those people not so much younger than him to whom he must demonstrate authority.
One of my students, noticing that the student teacher appeared to know his stuff, asked a question at the end of a presentation.
"So - how much do you know about computers - out of 10".
"Well", say the supply, "perhaps about 9.9"
"Ian", he turns to me, "how much do you know".
I told him 3. Confused, he asked whether the supply teacher knew more than me.
"I don't know." I said. "But I've perhaps a better idea of how far away 10 is."

Thats deep, especially for Off Day 
Good point though. Can see why the guy tried to make out he knew a lot as wouldnt like to admit to people he is teaching that he doesnt know a lot, but then compared to you who is comfortable infront of people you've been teaching a while can say you dont know much.
Wonder what you'd of said on your first day?!

Should only take him about 6 months seems he is a level 9.9 compared to a 3'er.

I can see why he graded himself high and years ago I probably would have done similar. Although I have always been kind of aware that you don't ever get there.

its just the way the question is worded "about computers" ie everything or about what you are trying to teach
when you look about the whole computer area i would be supprised if even you Ian would no a 3 of everything.
i no a solid 5 of bullshit
