Because it didn't really work properly, and people complained more before it was gone than the do now.

Improved version of Search is in the pipeline I believe.

I must agree, the search function didn't operate in a historical fashion. If it operates in a timescale manner then it will be far better IMO!

Agreed - rather find something usefull that helps me with a problem even if the thread is 6 years old than nothing at all
