I bought the R6 like this last year.

I done a few bits to it, and then got knocked off by a car so it has been in storage for the last 8 months. In that time, I've sold lots of parts as I needed the money.

Here's how it looks at the moment:

Before I crashed, 2nd gear went on it so that needs to be replaced. I should be having a 03-05 gearbox fitted as they're so much smoother and generally a lot better.

I also want to get the wheels done as they're starting to go a bit tacky. What colour do you suggest, white or black?

The current modifications are:

Stubbied Micron Can
Tail Tidy
Velcro'd Tiny Plate
White Powder Coated Wheels
Black Anodized Mirror Blankers
Indicators Removed
Mirrors Removed
Xexon Bulbs
Black Headlight Covers
Gold X-Ring Chain
Colour Coded Panel Infills
Black Tinted Double Bouble Screen
Renthal Medium Compound Grips
Oxford Bar Ends
Black Anodized Pazzo Shorty Levers
Pirelli Diablo Corsa III Tyres

I also have the following parts ready to fit:

Black Anodized Gilles Rearsets
Black Anodized Harris Hanger

And a few bits I'm going to buy when I have some money:

Black Coated Front and Rear HEL Braided Hoses
Black Anodized Harris Quick Release Fuel Cap
Colour Coded Genuine Yamaha Seat Cowl
K&N Race Air Filter
Dynojet Stage 1 Jet Kit
Black Anodized Fairing Fitting Kit

I gave it fresh oil, a new EBC clutch, a new air filter, both fuel and oil filters and new plugs literally a few days before the accident.

Comments and suggestions welcomed...

I can't decide on the colour so I'm getting one set in white and another set in black.

Whilst I'm having the 05 gearbox put in, should I get the fork bottoms done black? Or do you think that'd be too much? I can't decide.

I'm also thiunking about having the front and rear mudgaurds done in gloss black. Whilst I'm having those done I'll get the two frame panel clip-on thingies done as they're already black but have a mark on them.

I'm pretty much 100% on getting the front mudgaurd done in black, but I'm not convinced about the back mudgaurd -- any thoughts? I want the front mudgaurd in black for the steathly front end.

I'm going to Bates tonight to get all the gaskets and everything needed for the 05 gearbox.

I'm 20 but I've had two R6's now. I got my first R6 when I was 17... They're like £3k for a decent one and £1.5k to insure when you're 17.

Gilles Rearsets fitted.

They're £320 (ish) brand new, but I bought them off my mate as they were damaged and had bits missing. The missing and damaged parts have been ordered and should arrive this week.

Please ignore how dirty everything is... I haven't cleaned it properly yet.

Ordered bits for the rearsets directly from Gilles. Each peg was £23. A tiny little piece of metal that holds the brake light sensor cost £18. I can't even begin to describe how small and simple it was! Several little bolts and screws...

Due for delivery on Friday...

Took off the pillion pegs today and fitted my Harris hanger:

I also cleaned (and lubed) the chain, and tyre-painted the tyres:

I'm not hunting a seat cowl but they're bloody hard to find for a reasonable price in mint condition.

Getting the wheels done in white very soon.

My alarm (Datatool System 3) has fucked up so I've hit yet another snag.

I got a Datatool engineer coming out for £60 per 30 minutes. Probably just gunna get him to rip it out.

My solo seat cowl which I won on eBay for £82 should arrive this week, although it hardly matters as the bike is in pieces.

I'm gunna swap the wheels with my other R6 (pictured above) whilst I get the wheels powder coated white.

I'm also going to go over the engine tomorrow with lots of degreaser, ready for the gearbox change... I'm not looking forward to that.

Took both my 02 R6 and the 04 R6 to my mates garage tonight ready for the change. Both bikes were complete and ridable.

The 02 R6:

The 02 R6 and the donor 04 R6:

The 04 engine out:

Getting ready to remove the 04 gearbox:

The 02 engine stripped:

The problem:

Had a few snags but to strip both bikes, drop both engines, and remove both gearboxes in an evening is pretty impressive, I think!

Good day!

The problem!

No gearbox in the 04 engine...

Tried out my new fairing...

Engine going back in...

Nearly done...

Testing everything out...

All done.

...and then to test the gearbox out I went through the box on the paddock stand (the clocks showed 196mph bouncing off the limiter in 6th).

Here's a video...

Over-the-fooking-moon. Gunna book MOT next weekend... Also booking Brands Indy on pay-day.

Oh and the Datatool System 3 has been completely removed.

It's good to have her back properly. I've missed 2nd gear so much!

Got the wheels off today ready for them to be acid dipped and powder coated. Tried to remove the discs but the bolts have been rounded by the previous owner so this might end up being a lot trickier than first thought (always the way).

Gunna be quite expensive since it's 2-new tyres, a complete set of front and rear brake pads, wavey discs and then the cost in labour for the bolts to be removed, new bolts AND the acid dipping/powder coating. The R6 could be off the road for quite some time as it's easily gunna cost another £400 without the discs!

This is how she's gunna be sitting for some time...
