Heres one for you maths geeks to work out.
Car A Does 32mpg - runs on Petrol @ say *117ppl
Car B does 46mpg - Runs on Diesel @ say *131ppl
*Most recent prices at last fill up.
How much more will car A cost to do 400 miles over car B?
Im sure its an easy calculation but...............

P.S. to answer your actual question 'How much more will it cost to fill Car A, than Car B for 400 miles'
The answer is £16.18

there are 4.5l in a UK gallon i think....
so 52mpg = 11.6miles per litre
400 miles = 400/11.6 = 34.5lites
so 34.5l x £1.17 = £40.34
edit: I assumed petrol, its £45.19 diesel

for reference...
My old V8 RangeRover did 10mpg on a good day
2.2miles per litre
400miles = 181litres
so £211
yup, it was expensive
Navara when towing
23mpg = 5.1 mpl
400miles = 78litres
so £102 (diesel)
Skyline on track
3mpg average, so 0.6miles per litre
400miles = 666litres
so £779

Surely.
Given 1 imperial gallon = 4.5461 litres
Car A = 400 miles/32mpg = 12.5gallons
12.5gallons (x4.546) = 56.826l
56.826l x £1.17 = £66.28
Car B = £51.78
And The New Car C = £45.81 assuming also diesel.
I realise this is contradictory to Paul J, I do apologise if I have gone wrong somewhere.

Aye youd be cheaper to charter a Taxi....even if you puked in the back & had to pay a charge!
Im swithering with the idea of a Black Mans Willy again. Seen a nice one & trying to work out how much more its going to cost to run.

Cheers mate that just about makes sense.
I think im about £50-55 a week on fuel now (Car B is based on what I have now), Car B's proposed car so looks like it will cost £10-15 more to run........call it £20 more as 32mpg is best - motorway cruising, whih I do mainly!
Thats not bad at all.

How many miles do you get to £55 Colin. I'm seeing 450 to that in the pug. Think i need to look at getting shut. Has a good few car park dents and sounding a bit rough at the minute cba spending cash on it though..

Close your eyes and learn not to give a fuck about MPG
I fill up my tank @£75+. I only get about 300 miles out of it. Usually less.
Next car i'm looking at will be twice as bad too
