Bloke at T Mobile shop told me to update my phone to stop little problems.
So i downloaded the program from the Sony site and when i run it, its starts telling me to back everything up.
Will this wipe my phone or not?

No it tells you to back up stuff as precaution. It shouldn't wipe anything but depending on the firmware it may reset settings etc..I would save your contacts to the sim and move anything you need to the memory card and remove it.

yeah was going to say you can sync you contacts with outlook etc.. then also put them back later on or save the whole contacts as a backup file.

Done it now.. When i put my memory card back in, its not recognising it, like its not saying ive put it in..?
Plus its deleted all my texts, which im fucking gutted about
Unless there on my card to?

Your texts will have been on the phone. I never keep mine so didn't know they'd be deleted .
You might be best to move everything off the card onto your laptop. Then format the card in the phone and then put back some of the files and folders that you need. Not everything folder wise is needed. So you can put back your pics, vids and music etc...
