Old ones = design exercise with dodgey aerodynamics on some models. Also a bit gay.
New ones = more mainstream, nicer trim and features, still a bit gay.

Picked mine up on Wed had a new dash pod fitted £800 (supposedly), went back today for MAF fitted under warranty!
I love it, I don't see them as being a gay car either, was tempted by a Mini which I would say is more of a homo car than a TT!
Roadster = Hairdresser
Coupe = Cool
Just watch / look out for the obvious things, they like breaking sensors quite regular apparently good job I've got a warranty with mine!
Smooth / comfortable and not slow either!

I was looking at these a few weeks ago, i think they look good. check out road tax tho as its a killer on some of them. Something about the 6 speed one is pricey. Was another post about these somewhere

Don't you work for Audi? You're bound to see problems surely? People aren't gonna come back and say how great the car is running are they.
All cars have problems. Hairdressers car tho, but i'd still have one.

i talking from a personal persepctive, yes i see alot of problems, bound too, but i see cars that come in for a service, and are totally fucked, that they had no idea about
alot of people espically on here, have come from the relatively easyness of vauxhalls etc, to a minefield of vag problems

The problem with VAG problems is that they arent simple.
For example, if the AirCon stopped working on my Corsa, check all the plugs and at the most have it regassed, checked for leaks. New compressor at worse was £200.
On the Ibiza, it has to be check via a computer, the fault cleared, the part that wants replacing replaced, new compressor = £500+ etc etc.

that car is sold, did he buy it?
i have a 1.8T 225 in my LCR. it's a great engine with a character of it's own.
the main problem with them is coil pack failure. i have one on the way out at the moment. only £20 fix though!
only other issue i had was a sensor worked it's way out of the dump valve. screwed it back in before my local stealers tried to sell me a new exhaust lol
i have vag-com on my laptop so i can check the fault codes before the garage tries to rip me off

I think the main thing to bear in mind when buying an Audi out of warranty is that yes you are getting a prestige car for cheaper but the maintenance will still be costing prestige prices....

But they're VAG, they are German so they never have any problems.
Which is why both my dad's A8's had major electrical failure on multiple occasions. My mums A4 needed a new gearbox 6 months from brand new and is now pissing water out everywhere after a few years because of perished hoses.
Yea, VAG German reliability is great.
Oh, and there is a faulty sensor on the back of the V8 somewhere buried in the engine bay. The only way to repair it is to remove the engine. Needless to say, I think he's going to put up with the orange light on the dash

At least they put the engine in the right way round, even on their FWD cars
