My girlfriends laptop is playing up...
As soon as you load MSN Messenger up, the screen crashes and you have no choice but to restart the computer. Often the BSOD happens, but not all the time.
I've tried reinstalling it, I've ran every virus app possible, and looked for malware, spyware and adware in loads of different apps, but I still cant find the problem.
Any ideas what I could try next?
I was thinking that it may be faulty memory thats causing the problem?

Sounds like it could be overheating to me, have you checked for the fans being blocked with dust and fluff etc?

I don't think it's that mate, as it is only ever happening when I open MSN and it logs in.
As soon as it logs in the computer freezes and the mouse arrow is the only thing movable. That eventually freezes as well.
I can't do Ctrl, Alt Delete - The only thing I can do is hold down the power button and open it all back up.

Ah rite
What made me think it was overheating is the fact that you said you've "reinstalled it". By this, do you mean formatted the hard drive and re-installed Windows?
If not, do that.

Sorry, I meant reinstalled MSN, as it was only happening with that.
EDIT: OK, fucked big time now - wont boot up - all I get is a BSOD.
Has anyone reformatted Vista BEFORE?
It's my lasses laptop, but it is an OEM so didn't come with a CDs or anything.
Any ideas?

Do you get an option to "press F10 to enter into recovery mode" or anything on boot?
