ive just rang up a few places and the best price i managed to find was £206 suppiled and fitted for a clutch for my 1.0 12v (x reg)
for the clutch and release brearing.. (£118 for clutch and £88 for release bearing)
is this cheap?
why so much for the release bearing?
is it a hydraulic one on mine then?
need quick answers asap as im going to book it in later..

Not bad for supplied and fitted.
For example, clutch kit (clutch + bearing) I could buy for about £70 ish...
However, considering they have to remove the gearbox, fit a new clutch and re fit the gearbox (say 4-5 hours of labour easily) ... it equals an expensive job.
Think last time I got a clutch fitted in total with labour + parts it was like £300.

Dont think its a hydraulic release bearing. They are usually about £80 alone. That price still isn't bad though.

well its £118 included fitting for the clutch, but as its best to get the release bearing done at the side time, and it being hydraulic one, it bumps it up..
personally i think £200 drive in drive out is a good price

Unless the really really late models are Hydraulic but I'm certain they aren't. Take a look under your bonnet, on the gearbox see if you can see the clutch cable and clutch fork.

they should still replace the thrust bearing in the gearbox, but you usually get that with the clutch in the box.

went to the garage this morning for the clutch, but told them its a cable, and they was like well its still going to be £200 even though i dont need the £90 hydraulic slave cylinder..
so i was like ok then cya, rang up another garage and manage to do abit of talking as you do and haggle and got them to do it for £118 all in, whole clutch kit, so took it there 15mins later and picked it up about 40mins ago, only took them about 3 hours, drives alot better, and no more veryy hard gear changes, drops into gear like new!
