I think you would be best speaking to Dave A, but i think you can raise to 7k with no problems...
I'm sure if you go stuidly high revving then you have to go down the route of buying double valve springs etc...

150bhp ish with raised rev limit. You'll be wanting 7.5k, but you'll needing ARP rod bolts and SBD cambelt rollers.

would it be easyer to get the same power for just stickin a 2litre init but where i want about 180bhp it just be easy and cheaper for a c20xe or even a 20xe init

I was having the same problem, not sure iuf to keep the 1600 in or go 2L, but ive decided to keep the 1600.
Mainly because every man and there dog has a redtop, and i would prefer a tuned 1600 rather than a standard redtop. Plus its lighter so wehen on trackdays that will help.
But it is each to there own.

yer i no what you mean about the 180bhp but i am at that stage now when i need to spend silly money on the 1.6 16v like 2grand for 164bhp on sbd TBS and mangerment system but the c20xe i would have a few lil bits on it before it would go in

Only problem is you need to find a good engine, prob rebuilt it, fit it, and start to tune it. Starts to add up!
With TB's on a 1.6 with the spec you already have i would say you would get over 164bhp!

£1600-£2000.
But i would much rather have a tb'd 1600 than a normall redtop. Not that much when you consider the rebuild cost and fitting of a redtop
