'It seems that Labour's unpopular plans for a national road pricing scheme are alive and well. They are determined to press ahead with their untried and untested spy-in-the-sky national project even though it looks like an IT disaster waiting to happen. Ruth Kelly should start listening to drivers and scrap these pilots for a national road pricing scheme that is unnecessary and unwanted.'
Wont be sticking any black boxes in my car let me tell you

I like this idea, me and my misses run 5 vehicals between us. I hate having to pay full tax on 5 when we can only possible use 2 at one time

I'm all for it.
Astra I'm buying is 228g/km, threshold is 225 so thats £400 for that. Freelander is reasonable as I use that the most at 200 quid but the Corsa and Disco are £185 each for 1000 miles pa between them. Daft.

Put it on fuel would be the obvious answer.

Problem with that is there is already too much tax being paid on fuel at the moment, unless they scrap all tax being paid on fuel at present and start again with a new pay as you drive tax added to the fuel.

I like it how one of the main concerns people have over this is the possibility for speed to be monitored remotely; but no one on here has ever gone over the speed ever in their life, and if they ever met anyone who has, they would go vigilante style on their ass...

'They' already know your every move. For instance, if you drive into London 'they' check your numberplate and then do a background check on the vehicle and driver details. This isn't for motoring reasons, it's for terrorism and other crime.

I'd say its more to do with the goverment tracking and knowing your every movemnt.
Before long this country will be like Tibet.

I doubt that.
Saying that, the Labour party aren't going to be around for long enough to get this to happen and I believe that the Conservative party are against this proposal.

If they could track speed I wonder how many people would go out and try and set the first top speed.
Load of bollocks, country would be in uproar over it.
