How do i stop cats from shitting in my garden. It fookin stinks out there, so bad I cant hang my washing out 
Save the 'kill it' 'get a dog' 'poison it' style responses, Ive been told im not allowed to do these

Fill empty coke bottles with water and lay them around in your garden, this should stop them

could always try killing it or get a dog might work hey could even poison it  .
in all seriousness we have the same problem and mum and dad tend to buy some stuff that looks like wood bark but smells disgusting and that tends to stop them for a while (ill try find the name of it for you)

The offical RSPCA answer is to turn a hose on the cats when they enter your garden....they hate getting wet and its a bit of a hobby for you

I got some industrial strength weedkiller off a mate, Put that down to kill the weeds, and also a cat fell victim to it. Thats my answer to it

Orange Peel.. Cats dislike the smell of orange terribly.
I'm sure you can get some sort of water based solution that has a smell in that cats really dont like... not sure where you'd get it from though to be honest

Ive googled those sensors, not bad, but would mean keep replacing the batteries as I have mains outside but would rather not leave it plugged in all the time. Ive got the tiniest garden, its more patio than soil and they choose to shit in it. Im going to try the cheaper tricks of filling bottles with water and orange and lemon peels first, might look into investment if that doesnt work. Thanks guys

can't you rig a PIR to a water pump or valve which starts off the water/sprinkler?

If I had the faintest bit of DIY knowledge you would think so, but as I dont (and its a rented house) Im not going to be running pipes or buying water pumps etc for this

Its not the unsigntlyness, it disappears into the soil after a couple of days, its the smell I cant stand. Like I said im going to try cheap alternatives first like citrus, and im also going to mount a solar powered sensor light on the wall, will hopefully keep them away

Same problem from me..
Bought loads of different cat repellant stuff from pet shops, none worked.
Also tried the bottles of water, lemon, orange, bleach, weed killer, vinegar and anything i could get my hand on..None deterred the cats................
