Sounds thick tbh, but i've never stopped around while servicing my car so does anyone know.

They will obviously do the service parts: Oil, air, fuel and possibly pollen filter, oil change, spark plugs.

Wheels get taken off, brakes checked, changed if neccisary. Suspension, ball joints, bushes, arb's etc checked. Brakes then cleaned and hub copper greased.

Everythings then topped up, battery, coolant, washers.

Check everythings tight, fitted properly and nothings broken, hanging off or making dodgy noises.

Check lights.

Done. I've probably forgot something but thats just off top of my head.

Tyre pressures too.

Also depends where you take it, ive seen places that do the plugs and fliters and oil and thats it.

Also, state of number plates, cracks or condensation in lights....

If you have a previous service document in the log book or whatever you will see all the stuff VW check as the citroen one is probably different.

Thanks guys great help, was worried about the tread on my tyres but thats an M.O.T , going to give the car a good blody clean tonight then inside/out. make sure everythigns working

They cant fail you on the tread of your tyres, but you will probably get a phone call asking if you would like them changing.

Jakey: were the hell you go for that, i paid Ł50 for the M.O.T but Ł35 for a service wtf!

and another thing do they check the emissons with the exzorst or is that anotehr MOT thing?. as ive just had a new backbox.

I pay 35 for an MOT cos i used to work for the bloke. And i do services myself, plus i get parts on trade.

Just on the MOT, but they will check for blowing etc.

i used to check the boiling point of the break fluid as the older it gets the lower the boiling point becomes and you eventually end up with spongy brakes, we used to grease up the fuel pipes too if they was steel ones, dont forget a full light and wiper check and adjust the handbrake if need be

my service routine:-

Check all exterior lights
check washers are functioning correctly
check horn is working correctly
check for any play through the steering wheel
inspect wiper blades
check and top up coolant
inspect brake fluid level
fill up washer bottle
after engine is hot, remove oil cap and dipstick
check all hoses and wiring harnesses are secure in the engine bay
Inspect for leaks from the top of the engine
Inspect drive belts
Raise vehicle
Drop oil
inspect all ball joints, cv boots, steering rack gaitors
inspect underneath engine for leaks
inspect radiator for leaks
move to the back of the vehicle, inspecting floorpan and brakelines
inspect the rear shocks and springs
check brakelines and fuel lines for security/leaks
lower vehicle half way, insepct all 4 tyres for damage and wear
check for freeplay in the wheels all round
remove all road wheels, inspect brakes and brake lines
Inspect front shockers for leaks or snapped springs
bleed brakes if requiered
copper slip the hubs and replace wheels
Inflate tyres to recommended pressure
raise vehicle refit sump plug and change fuel filter
lower vehicle, change air filter/plugs and pollen filter
fill with oil. run engine until oil light goes out. stop engine and recheck oil level. top up if nesecary.
grease all door hinges/bonnet latch and battery terminals
reset service light
check for any software updates
roadtest for any noises etc
DONE
