Im going to give it a go on my next format. Im starting a new system of not using acquired software Which is also why Im scouting for the cheapest price for XP Pro.

Apparently OO is exactly the same as MO, just with slightly different formats, menus etc and it all works together so working from home and transporting work to uni computers shouldnt be a

edit - did you end up formatting to get rid of that trojan/virus?

Used it at home for ages on my laptop as wanted to use legit software.

Writer is basically MS Word, Calc is Excel and thats all I use really. The only settings I've changed is to automatically save in a Word .doc format rather than whatever it was set up to do and used it.

Works great and free

Only problem was - it reads MS files fine etc, but MS wont read the files if they are saved in the open office format. So you cant pop your stuff onto a stick and take it somewhere with MS Office.

Or at least it used to have this issue, not used it in about a year since MS Office came with this PC.

Yea Rab when you click Save just change it to Office 99 - 03 (or 07 if thats required) format and it saves it as .doc/.docx

If thats the download size thats tiny, after installing Office 03 it leaves behind 400mb+ of setup files unless you delete them
