Which ones are there (preferably in the south)?

Can think of Courtenay and Regal so far but I seem to remember one of those has a bad reputation. Which was it?

Just investigating which tuning packages are available for my Astra

Thanks.

You will find good and bad stories from both tunners.

Call them both and discuss your requirements, then make your decision.

What engine is it?
What sort of budget do you have in mind?
What sort of power are you hoping for?

Depends on what work you want done, if its a plug and play remap then there really is no difference where you go whether it be Courtney\Regal\Thorney

Regal use EDS map's for the z-let's, they are good map's that work well. People say they alot more aggresive over Courtney sport

Thorney map's are good for daily driver's who want a bit more over standard, the rev's are a bit more progressive

Also you should think about using a front mounted cooler and get a pre-cat + sport cat, then you can skip phase one and go for two which is normally about 240-260 bhp and 280-320 of torque

Might be wise to a stash of £ to dot he clutch a short time after

Swindon

I would not go to Regal, even if it was free.

I would rather pay a little extra, have good customer service, a quality tested and updated and improved mapping (newer engines only), over some road outfit who've got their name form botched conversions (triple head gasket turbo conversion anyone, we'll charge £3500 for the pleasure).

New engines - Thorney.
Old Engines - Swindon / SBD.

if you want it remapped, look on motorsportdevelopments site

they have a new product, which enables uses (tunning companies) to plug your car in, send data back to MSD, then they send the map back to the tuner

ask robin etc, but ive never ever seen MSD slagged off

Hmm I went to an AOC Rolling road day and spoke to several people and the general consenus is that all three tuning companies have virtually the same generic maps which take into account modifications such as

exhaust system
Front mount and exhaust system
Front mount Exhaust system and VXR turbo

etc etc.

All these companies do is plug in and upload the maps and do a power run. There was on person who went to Thorney and they didnt even put it on the rollers just took it for a drive and said hmmm thats about right.

I cant comment on their engineering work but judging from what James actually wants (which is a simple map with a few tuning parts) it really doesnt make a difference which of the three tuners you go to as you hear good and bad feedback from all of them.

Going to other tuner such as MSD etc for custom written maps is expensive and you are best of going down the tried and tested route of generic maps as you will probably encounter less problems and it'll be cost effective.

My point here Stavs is not slandering the company just saying if you want tune this car you best of just choosing the closest one to you or the most cost effective one as there is relitively no differences between the various stages and maps offered by the afforementioned tuning companies.
