What's the best dump valve for my LET? I need to upgrade mine from standard and just need some advice. I believe to run an external wastegate, I'll need a different manifold? I'm totally open to all types of blow off valves so give me some hints! Cheers

Chatter kills turbo's, sounds good but is deadly to a turbo.

That was my point of this thread! I found out that its really no good for the turbo so I need to sort a dump value out.

But turbos really do benefit from them. Now can anyone actually give me some advice? Come turbo boys!

Nothing wrong with the standard dump valve for protecting the turbo, there is one built into the K16.
If you want to go for a different sound like an atmospheric one the a bailys DV26 is fine
Edit to add, what are you talking about external wastegates and different manifolds? I thought this was a thread about fitting a dump valve?

how does no dumpvalve kill the turbo? surely they would have a dumpvalve on as standard if it kills the turbo :S

They do have a dump valve on as standard and not having a dump valve at all will kill your turbo quicker. When you close the throttle without a dump valve the compressor wheel stalls and can even be forced to spin backwards

On a turbo car, when you come of the throttle the tb closes, the noise is the air that is in a "pocket" between the now closed tb (obv a blow of valve/dump valve relases this pressure, hence the noise) , and the turbo, the back pressure forces the air back through the turbo, hence the noise not good for your turbo, but sounds

Recirculating one sounds best IMO, had a DV26 on and it annoyed me after a few weeks

If you read the heading, it says wastegate too. The thread is generally about how i can dump turbo air. Whether it be from a dump valve or wastegate. To those of you who have helped, thanks a lot. I would like more of a whistle high pitch sound psssh than a normal dump valve pssshh! If that makes any sense! How can i achieve that do you think?

I get what your saying but you cant dump "turbo air" with a wastegate, the wastegate sits in the exhaust.
But yes if you want to run an external wastegate you will need a new manifold and a new turbo, assuming you still have the standard k16 one fitted

my dv26 makes quite a high pitch noise,as luke said a waste gate let's exhaust gasses by pass the turbo to control turbo speed/boost pressure.

Also, do I need to buy a blanking kit for the standard dump valve?
