how much am i looking at to transport a car engine?

my Z12XE from a corsa c is dead, been quoted £380+vat for 2nd hand engine, £250 to fit and £65 to deliver

does it sound reasonable? its a 2002 im debating whether to fix it or not, cos its worth nothing now, i got a few k's worth of modificatiosn on, so surely ti would re-coup some of the cost when i get the engine in

For £65 I would let them deliver it. You'll make a mess of whatever you carry it with plus the fuel and time doing so.

Other costs seem about right.

dnt know whats up with mine, started it up and it felt like stalling, loud knocking noise from engine as if something is tapping against something, 2 cylinders with no compression im told

so it will cost me about £800-£900 to source and fit this engine, is it worth it? parents seem to think ill probably get £800 for it if i sold it on so may as well get some more use out of it, engine has 3 mnth warranty, but the fitter cant guarantee it cos he aint sourcing it

no compression on 2 cylinders, probably the firerings gone between 2 cylinders...

Just get the headgasket done, will cost around £350-£450 depending where you go (less if you find a decent enough garage.)

if you've lost compression on 2 cylinders next to each other, it can cause a knocking/loud cracking sound yes.

When the HG goes between the firerings, there are no overheating issues or loss of water/coolant, etc. Just massive loss of power and noise similiar to what you say.
