Picked up my freshly reprofiled camshafts yesterday, when i asked is there any special procedure i should follow or just fit em as per normal
they set i need to "let down" the tappets so they pump up to the correct distances for the new profile and they told me how it is done (allthough difficult without the tool theyve got)
Has any1 ever had any experience with this before? i'd never heard of it tbh lol

thats what i said to them.... wont the tappets pump up and readjust on their own
they told me that they wouldnt pump up in time and i'd probly fuck the lobes on the shafts

just turn it over with the coil unplugged for a few seconds to make sure they have oil

when fitting cams at work, i normally drizzle a little bit of fresh oil onto the top of the cam followers/tappets and also drizzle fresh oil where the cam touches cam carriers
never had a problem

I think if you look in the tutorials dave did a bit on cams and fitting i think it was covered in there

i had a look at that thread, doesnt mention the tappets unfortunatly 
They gave me some assembly lube to drizzle over the tappets and lobes when i put it back 2getha.
Jus wasnt sure if this is one of those things thas like an old wives tale about needing to let the tappets down.... dont wanna risk buggering the new shafts either

try a u2u to warren i think his were freshly done when he put his in.

good idea i'll see if i can get hold of him. cant seem to pull these old tappets apart
like i say i've never heard of it being done before, these guys insisted i need to tho
