Was considering getting a Nokia E51, but on a similar tariff + £50 I could get an N96.

This DVB-H feature is a bit confusing though - it says it can get video whilst on the go as it has an internal antenna, but do you have to pay for this service like mobile internet and WiFi hotspots etc?

Does anyone have an N96 and having loads of issues with it? I will be switching from a SIM Only no strings attached tariff to an 18 month one, so don't want to have loads of trouble and end up resorting to my 6300 for the rest of the contract.

I think DVB-H is only on trial at the moment and when it does go live it will be a subscription based service.

Robbo or Jambo might have more info.

Bit shit then - also read on the internet that when it's up and running proper, 4G will be so there will be no use

dvb-h wont be in the uk for ages(if at all)

licenses to much, and there is no demand for that service.

plus, with 4g already upon us, they wont run 2 services side by side, that do the same thing, when there is no reald emand for either

DVB-H Is only avalible in 2 places in the Uk

http://www.dvb-h.org/services.htm

I have the N96, Havent had no problems with it, I reset it to factory defaults to get rid of all the VOdafone crap and it was pretty much like a new phone, made it soooo much faster!

has its ups and downs, see the other thread on the N96.

Was thinking BlackBerry, but prefer the E51 Nokia.

And with the iPhone, I hate that you're paying for the Apple image - you get next to no calls and txts included in the package, yet could get a BlackBerry, O2 XDA/HTC or Nokia for the same monthly cost with extras.

why would you get an e51 over a blackberry?

essentially they do the same thing, but blackberry are better as they have a dedicated push email service as opposed to a pull email service.

or get a blackberry on vodafone as they are better

'cause I'm not that desperate to get emails on the move. Only feature I need is WiFi really and I'll get my emails that way.

Monthly contract is £30 max really.

Blackberrys are shite.

You can get push email on an E51 if you use microsoft exhange, it also has a FAR superior web browser and an endless list of apps.

BLackberrys are great for email, but user interface is god awfull, most are ugly devices, poor build quality and only 2g so reception will be limited (I can only speak of this being typical on Orange)

I used mine for a month and hated it, worst phone ive ever owned

i use mine on 3g at the moment and its pretty good.

bear in mind, uk networks(apart form voda) bastardise there firmware post production, which can slow down immensly. with voda, rim encorporate our firmware for us, to try and aleviate firmware issues.

i find my in built opera browser to be extremely good, as well as the yahoo in built browser, the rim browser, and obv voda browser.

but then again, i do really like the e51 and e71

Vodafone bastardise theres too!! My N96 was shite till i wiped the Vodafone crap off!!

And Vodafone lock down the phones so you cant flash them till Vodafone want you too! which is a joke!

If Nokia release a new firmware i want it now, not when Vodafone tell me too!
