Got my Nokia E51, all lovely, 3G + 3.5G works lovely. Initially set up my emails to receive it via IMAP and it receives the emails no problem, so I know I have the right username & password in.
However when I try to send emails, it either doesn't take my password or just says it's connecting then doesn't do anything.
Is this a problem with the settings on the phone? The settings from Virgin Media (can't see it being a problem as Thunderbird works as POP3 on PC and IMAP on laptop) or O2 not allowing it somehow? As said, the 3G + 3.5G works fine for browsing etc.

You have to set up security and ports on the outgoing one, follow a guide for gmail and just change the servers possibly, my gmail works fine on in and out.

I'll check the ports that Thunderbird uses when I get home. Thought it would be something like that.

Everything is set as it is on my PC, apart from the security and ports, as it's just 'Default' on the phone.
pow - the Nokia manual never mentions using the service provider settings. It comes across as pure POP3/IMAP compatible. Then mentioned Microsoft Exchange Server, obviously for networky fancy stuff.

Doesn't matter.
O2 may be blocking the SMTP server for virgin.
Just instead of smtp.virgin.net, put in smtp.o2.co.uk and give it a whirl.
Trust me.
