OK, I've just ordered a machine...
It has 4GB DDR2 RAM in it, but they've offered me an upgrade to 4GB SAMSUNG DDR800 RAM for an extra £15.
Is it worth me bothering?

Depends on timings surely, as unless im missing something here, you are paying £15 extra for essential the same hardware?
edit - Timings as in CAS Latency timings (I dunno how good you are at pooters?)

If it's purely for the brand then no, if the stats are better then yes.

I'm not well up on hardware these days tbh.
They basically said that it's 25% faster
If it's no big deal then i'll leave it. I was happy with what I ordered originally.

I went into this a while ago. Dont quote me on what I say here:
It depends on the speed of your RAM that you get standard. DDR2 runs at 2x the speed, so if its DDR2 400 RAM, it should be the same as the DDR800.
I spent a while trying to find out more about the RAM speeds etc, but its hard to really get a definate answer. If it was me, I would just leave it, but then again, dont think you will really miss out on the £15

Its all relative brett, if you are paying £985 for a system the extra £15 will round it up to a nice even £1000, and represents only 1.5% of the price, compared to if youa re buying a budget system for £285 and the RAM takes it up to £300, thats then 5% of the price.
Unless you are really doing some proper RAM intensive apps (like photoshop and graphics rendering etc) you honestly wont miss a slightly faster RAM

Will make fuck all difference unless your doing some high-end video encoding...
Main bottleneck on PC's is the HDD. Save your £15 and go buy some pie.
