Good morning everyone,
1.0l Corsa 2000X. This car has recently had a crank sensor fitted but it cut out again a few days ago.
I have just removed the sensor and it is contaminated with engine oil. Has anyone else experienced this? I can just get my finger into the hole where the crank sensor fits and there is a fair amount of oil in there so the clutch is at risk too.
I'm expecting the leak will be from the flywheel crank seal. However, is there anything else in that area that could be the cause of the leak? The cam cover is not leaking and the upper parts (head and block) have no leaks. The bottom of the engine/bell housing is dry too.
Thanks

Nothing has been touched on the engine except the fitting of a new crank position/angle sensor about two weeks ago.
The engine oil level is approximately 3/4 full.
Thanks.

Does anyone have any cutaway/engineers drawings or a pdf engine manual for the 1.0l 3 cylinder engine please?
The more I look at this, I reckon the end of the crank position sensor is in the side of the block and therefore must run in the engine oil.
Can anyone confirm this?

redtop ones are. if there was any kind of crank seal leak you would know about it. if its not at the end on the pulley and its in the block then oil on it is normal as its runs of a sprocket on the crank.

Thanks Andy.
I've just been looking in a Haynes Manual and it shows a crankshaft sensor 'pulse pickup ring' that screws to the crank and would clearly get splashed with oil.
I am so glad I haven't took the gearbox out!!
Cheers,
Robbie.
