can a 1.6 16v run from a 1.4 16v ecu??
if not what are the differences???

The ecu will also be codded so you will need the chip from the key

ok, is there any other ecu i can use? or how do i gain teh chip from the key?? total noob on this and the fecked 1.4 is being replaced with a 1.6

The key opens and you can remove the chip then take the old chip out off your key and fit new 1
Na you will need an ecu for that engine

I have a 1.6 ECU with chip and transponder pickup in case you go for the X16XE engine

Not sure if the loom is the same as the X14XE though, someone would need to clear that up

so long as the plugs on the 1.6 ecu are the same as the 1.4 one the wiring will be fine. or just get the wiring with the ecu. far easier to unplug the loom from the car and leave it on the old engine then you only need to unplug 2 plugs.
