How can i test/probe a crank sensor on a 20xe (3 pin connection) to see as its doing what it should?

I just asked my best mate who is a auto electrician, you can check the resistance but this will not confirm if its working correctly, you need to use a osiliscope and check the wave pattern is ok, I think you would be better of buying a new one if you suspect its faulty about 30 quid for a corsa.

i have a snap on osiloscope to hand its just i dont know what the hell im looking for lol thanks anyway il just stop being cheap and get another one

you should be looking for a square wave form like so....

scale and units will be differnt but as its a hall effect sensor it will produce a digital square wave form.
As apoosed to a inductive type sensor that produses a sign wave.....
