my laptop is showing the blue screen of death after start up, it gets to the windows loading screen then this blue screen flashes and it restarts itself only for it to keep going in this cycle.

What will happen if I put the windows disc in a reinstall windows?

Will i lose all the data on my HD?

Have you done F8 before windows start and tried loading it in safemode?

(think it's F8, might be F6, it's definitely an F button...)

You can just re-install windows i think, and keep other data

(all of the above could be completely wrong, it's been a long time since i've done it!)

You could try a Windows Repair, but a reinstall will format your hard drive entirely.

If you can get the drive into another PC as a slave drive, then get the minidumps from it, I may be able to tell you what is causing the restarts.

Faulty RAM cold quite easily cause this problem, but so could a faulty power supply so that's why I would need to see the minidumps, which will be able to tell me.
