Its not a straight swop, i've done this with the 1.7TD from a cavalier (retaining the 1.5TD gearbox) which should be the same as the astra 1.7TD:
You would need to use the 1.5TD flywheel/clutch/starter motor.
You need to cut a small part of the engine block off at the back of the engine as it fouls the gearlinkage.
You need to swop a bracket that goes around the inj pump from the 1.5TD.
The engine mount on the cam cover needs swopping over, the holes for the mount are on the 1.7TD but the timing belt tensioner/backplate and cover also need to be swopped over from the 1.5TD for the mount to fit.
Coolant pipes from the thermostate are different so you need to use a combination of the 1.5 & 1.7 ones.

Also forgot that you need to rotate the turbo housing so that the outlet points up (the 1.7TD points down as they use an intercooler), also worth using the 1.5TD inlet manifold as its less bulky and allows better access to the inj pump if you are going to be tweaking it.
