Arrived to late to get pics of OJC out on track...but got a few snaps before I got too bloody cold and left.
I like some but I am definetly going to get myself down to more of these things and practice moving shots. Just annoying how high the bloody fences are on sections of track.

I was using 1/100, pretty fast compared to some but I find my limit so far is about 1/80 when I'm not shivering like an idiot.
Oh & I'm using a Canon 400D SLR. I was using a 70-300mm lens today. But at 70mm most of the time or near on.

I drove in the Pits but you were up the end, I didn't go far that, plus there was nowhere to get pics so moved out of it. I was there probably 10 minutes when you all drove out

Some good shots there mate, not sure what it is about the last shot but it really seems to stand out to me
I was considering a trip to Oulton Park last Saturday but ended up getting dragged out shopping to try and find me something for Christmas Might go late on in Jan now, there's supposed to be a good drift day on and you can get away with an 18-55 from quite a few spots which is handy cos that's all I've got
I've not shot any sort of Motorsport since Trax

If Brands is sort of your local track or if that's where you wanna go I imagine there'll be a 2009 calender on >>>here<<< that's where I check out everything that's on at Oulton Park.
I've only been to Oulton once and it was a British GT and F3 weekend iirc so it was tickets anyway but I think most trackdays you can just turn up and shoot. No doubt there'll be a regular visitor on TP who can tell you what days are free at Brands
Just found this in the FAQ's for trackdays on there

Can I bring an additional driver/passengers/spectators?
You can bring additional drivers and passengers to all our trackdays. Ideally they should be pre-booked so we know the number of people who will be attending an event. However, if you have booked a trackday and wish to bring someone along that has not been booked then they can be paid for on the day. Spectators are also welcome at all of our events, except events held at the Bedford Autodrome.

Cheers Mike
Yeah trackdays like this you can just turn up at, no point going to one you have to pay for, partly because the good places to stand at will be packed!

Yeah, now that I know there's places at Oulton where I can get away with my 18-55 I think I'll probably try and get down there fairly regularly. It's only about half an hour away. Fill a flask up, make some butties and it's pretty much a free day out with the camera bar a few quid in petrol.

The problem I found at Brands, is I can only really stand at Druids without there being high fences in the way, everything else has 10 foot high fences

I know exactly what you mean
That was at Trax this year, no-one seemed that fussed about watching the track and I just stumbled across that bit at one point it was nice and close but there's no disguising that fence
