anybody else on here drive for t.p. what a crap company, first day back at work, meeting with manager and been told i have to work a extra hour a day, and there fitting a tacko in my van.

im guessing it's a black box, so they can see how fast and where you been driving etc etc

It records a vehicles movements, speed and hours that the driver has worked in a day. All HGVs have them fitted. They must be kept up to date. If VOSA stop you and find it to be incomplete or not working, not there are big fines involved.

seriously i do silly speeds in my work van, and am not allowed to use it out of work hours, end of that then i spose

at least you still have your job, theres a load of people at the builders merch near me have lost thier jobs.

Again, its the law and for tax purposes.
You do have the option to drive it for personal use, but you will have to pay tax personally, something silly like 5k a year off the top of my head.

I presume thats only to work vans for companies?

Not aware of anything for private vans for self employed people. Bloody hope not anyway!

people have been layed off from my place, it just seems to be bad news after bad news lately
