has any body got/had one of the remotes from flebay for the nikon d40, do they work?

been thinking it could be usefull rather than setting self timer on camera with the possibility of moving cam between shots.

Also does any body use a seperate flash, if so what and what made you choose that one

lastly, i know the really expensive cameras can get some sort of sensor for when something moves/klights up it takes and instant picture like for lightening, is it possible to get something similar for d40?

Ta

I Dont think the D40 will work with a remote as it doesnt have the infra red built in, to use a remote you have to buy a reciver and a transmitter, I personally would go with a cable release, I will be getting one soon for my D200, I just prefer them to a remote

I also have a Nikon SB-600 speedlight as an extra flash, and I have to say it is the bollocks, I can only imagine how good the SB-800 must be but they are too much £££

you can use a remote on a D40, i got one

There isn't a "Physical Cable" for the D40. The D40 doesn't have a port or an adapter to use a physical cable.

i bought this one : Clicky Clicky

and Matt, it does has IR built it, it's on the side grip

can see it just below the red bit
