Im due to fly off to Egypt tomorrow evening (late), and it would appear my passport has gone walkies (subject to another good look at home). Has anyone been in the same position where they may have visited the Cardiff passport office and returned home with a same day passport? I understand you need to make an appointment and have to wait 5 hours, but that wouldn”¦t be an issue as long as I walked away with a passport.
Any info is greatly appreciate. Im pooping myself right now

Well if you make the appointment, then if you find your passport you can cancel your appointment, if not you can still go and get it sorted.

A mate of mine had this when flying out to Dubai on Business but think he had to fly out on a later flight as they couldn't guarantee how long he would have to wait at the passport office

I done it, make an appointment now as they book up quite quick.
Its hassle but its better than losing all the money for the holiday.

a quick update, now gone through the house with a fine tooth comb.
The flight is Friday morning 10am, but im due to drive down with friends tomorrow evening and sleep in a hotel.
The IPS wont issue a new passport based on the previous one being lost in under 7 days.
They will not issue an emergency one unless its for medical reasons, and im not lieing.

Lost in 7 days? was it new or something?
One of my holidays consisted of being told at 7am Manchester airport that my passport had expired, I then had to make my way to Liverpool, wait until it opened at 9, wait 4 hours forthe express passport, then book a new flight. So I ended up flying out of East Midlands at bout 5pm. The missus wasn't amused at the time.

Must be different rules for expired and lost passports that haven't expired. So nothing you can do?

Sorry i explained it badly. If its lost, they will need to cancel it before issueing you a new one. A cancellation takes 7 days (due to having multiple passports i guess)
