In terms of performance they are extremely similar

I'll say it before anyone else - the CTR will be more fun to drive and better handling than the astra but I'd imagine that the astra would be cheaper to insure

Engine is, rest of the car isn't. It's like driving along in a baked bean tin.

I like both, but I'd probably go for a CTR now if I didn't intend on spending any money on it.

Vtec is just a word for jap cars that don't have torque

I'd rather the Astra, I test drove the CTR and the Astra gsi, and I chose the astra

Coupe turbo any day of the week. Ive had 3 GTRs from work, 2 bread van shapes and one new style one, neither of them was as nice to drive as my brother in laws coupe turbo. Coupe felt quicker if being honest, not much, but felt like it had more balls. plus the astra coupe looks 10000x better than any civic

thats the prob tho you gotta thrash it to move, and thrashing a car will break no matter how well you look after it

Not really, Honda do make a decent engine, car or bike. They do like to be revved.

One thing I've noticed from multi manufacturer forums is not to bother arguing with people who like Hondas

They wont give in and admit the car has no torque and must be thrashed

Thats why pics like this are made

Not this argument again, it's boring. The fact is, Hondas make good reliable engines. They aren't the quickest, torque is poor but they still go well. Their reliability record is second to none.

You dont unless you want to "go for it" has the usual average 2.0 NA engine power without (about 150bhp iirc) the other cam.

I would say the astra would be comfier to cruise around in and maybe ever so slightly quicker in a straight line but the civic wins in every other way.
