If he is earning over 40K he is in the higher tax band at 40%. 6K of it at 0% for personal allowance.

silly girls, its about getting your bonus through dividens, I did this last year and didnt pay a penny

It is worked out monthly according to what that would equate to over 12 months. Over the summer I was getting taxed because I was earning more. Then I got a rebate in the winter, without asking
