Any ideas why my battery might keep going flat? Got a new halfords 750a one on. I'll leave the car for no longer than 24 hours & it's flat as a pancake.

Must have a drain on it somewhere?
Alarm, stereo amplifier running on permanent live instead of ignition live etc?

It's not a fucked battery. I've tried 3 different batterys & it's the same thing, keeps going flat. Could the alternator be fucked?

Dodgy earth somewhere? Or alternator, if there isn't a drain.

If its going flat when your not driving it then there is something draining it like Dave said. If the alternator is not working then it just wont be getting a charge when your driving along I think. I dont know if its possible for an alternator to go fucked and drain a battery rather than charge it?

My ecu on my XE got water in it and was draining the battery over night. try unplugging your fuel relay see if it still goes flat. could also be the relay itself

Is it going flat just sitting there or when you drive it?
If its when you drive it it's probably alternator, if it's when it's just sitting there something is draining it.

John, It only does it when it's sitting on the drive. I started the car on monday night for a good 10 minutes. I went to start the car today about 12ish & it was flat.

could be a bad earth. if the earth off the inlet manifold to the alt adjuster is broken, alt wont charge properly, but battery light will stay off.

Check volts of battery, then check with engine running should be about 14v if not alternator fault.

Have you run the car for a couple of hours to charge the battery? a 10 minute charge won't make a difference. On a meter it will show as charged, but it won't hold it.
